Day 365

I decided to finish where I started, with a picture of poinsettias. It has been a wonderful project that has been at times a burden, but most of all a joy to do. I have learned so much. Most of it is hard to put into words.

I would like to thank my mother, Grandma Meg, to those of you who have followed my posts. She has commented on almost every one of my pictures. The times she missed have when she was not able to make a connection to the Internet. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.

A shout-out also goes to Sasi, a fellow Project-365er. His comments have been supportive and instructive. I have taken his suggestions and gone back to a few of my pictures and made the recommended tweaks. His suggestions have made a good picture pop. Sasi, thanks again for your support.

To the rest of my followers, all half-dozen or so of you, I hope you enjoyed watching my skills grow. I certainly enjoyed the ride.

Finally to my son, Noah. Thank you for rekindling my interest in photography. I am beginning to think artistry, like insanity, is indeed inherited… you get it from your kids.

Day 364

This photo doesn’t have much artistic value, but it represents a new void in our lives. My son, his wife, and our grand-baby are on their way back to Seattle. For some reason they left a bigger hole in our lives when they left this morning than they have in the past. I am reminded, once again, of how difficult it must have been on my parents and my in-laws for us to live as far away from them as we did. That pain really did not become apparent until our grand-baby came.

The rain finally has turned to snow. And along with the snow came a little bit of wind, which blew some snow on the plants on the front porch. The purple colors are hard to see when you first glance at the plant, but upon closer inspection it comes out.

Grandma Robbie stopped by today for a visit. Norah was so happy to see her. Of course Grandma Robbie seems pretty happy too.
